  • A shared communications platform to set out your commitments

Join the yachting industry in supporting the world’s forests.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED?

Both shipbuilders and their suppliers can contribute to responsible forestry in their own ways by pledging to commit to simple actions.

Signing this pact requires that your company undergoes a process specifying its targets for the procurement and use of forest-related products based on best practice and verified responsible sourcing. You must also set out an implementation plan – to ensure that your progress is measurable and relevant.

STEP 1:
Take A STAND

Join the pact to address the risks of sourcing from all forests.

  • Take the decision to develop or update a policy on responsibly sourced forest-based products.

    -  you are also invited to sign up to the pact if your existing policies and current procurement are already best practice.

  • Identify relevant staff to include in a policy process.

  • Join the Yachting for Forests Pact by contacting FSC.

STEP 2:
SET TARGETS AND ENSURE IMPLEMENTATION

Develop your policies and retain a strong focus on implementation.

  • Start your dialogue with FSC about the development of your policies.

  • Perform a self-assessment of your current purchases and production as a baseline.

  • Set ambitious goals and, if applicable, use the tools that FSC has to offer.

  • Check your suppliers making sure they are able to fulfil their part. Invite them along or find new ones.

  • Develop a certification roadmap (if applicable), or look into project certification.

  • Train your staff in applicable areas of your policy, and motivate them to take ownership.

  • Start sourcing verified responsible forest-based products in the context of your policies.

STEP 3
SHOW THAT YOU CARE

Spread the word and inspire others.

  • Release a public statement on your commitment within three months of signing up.

  • Communicate continuously in a balanced way about your efforts and procurement goals as well as your achievements.

  • Recruit customers and inform them of their options for responsibly certified products.
